(PROVIDENCE, R.I.)-The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence heating assistance campaign, ‘Keep the Heat On,’ will be launched on Monday, November 21 at 10:30 AM at the Emmanuel House Homeless Shelter in Providence. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will kick- off the annual campaign and accept a donation from the residents of Emmanuel House.
“We are very excited to kick-off the annual 'Keep the Heat On' campaign,” said Bishop Tobin. “The donation from the homeless residents of Emmanuel House is especially moving. It's a reminder that we all have something to give; that we're all in this together. What a beautiful gesture of personal kindness and generosity, especially in this season of thanksgiving and sharing."
Several residents at the shelter worked part-time through a partnership that Emmanuel House has with Anubis LTD, a contractor for Gillette Stadium, providing assistance setting up and breaking down the stadium. The residents took up a collection for the campaign to thank Bishop Tobin for establishing Emmanuel House, a place that gives them shelter and resources for a better life such as this job opportunity.
